From 2009 to 2011 mirjam baumberger wrote a great blog, the "Fridays' Swyx Tip". Every Friday she posted a tip regarding the usage of SwyxWare and connected tools and devices. As the old forum is offline, this article series will be restored here again over the time. Please note that some information in this article series might not be valid anymore with current SwyxWare versions.

Dear Swyx Users

In Swyx you not only got the global phone book on your finger tip, you have also access the your personal phone book and can easily dial these frequently used numbers directly from the Phonebook.

The Global Phonebook

The Global Phonebook is available to all users and contains information about the availability of your company's staff, e.g. if they are logged on or if they are currently in a phone call.

The Personal Phonebook

In the Personal Phonebook each user can store, edit or delete its personal numbers. You are the only person with access to this Phonebook. You can also export or import these entries.

Once can also import existing directory listings from CSV files. Swyx Ware offers a wizard which helps you to complete this task effortless 😉

More detailed instruction on How to import can be found in the SwyxIt! help "This is how you import entries into your Phonebook".

Search in the Phonebook and Searcher filed on SwyxIt! V6.25

The phonebook offers an easy text search, with which once can simultaneously search the global and personal phonebooks and your Outlook contacts .

With SwyxIt! V6.25, one can enter the name of a contact one wants to call directly in the Searcher field. This input starts a search function which tries to assign a number. The search function looks for matching contacts on three different places:

- in the Outlook contacts

- in the Personal Phonebook

- in the Global Phonebook

The results are offered in a selection list. You can then conveniently dial from there.

Have a good weekend and happy Swyxing...

Regards

Mirjam
