Fridays' Swyx Tip #29: Hot Desking
From 2009 to 2011 mirjam baumberger wrote a great blog, the "Fridays' Swyx Tip". Every Friday she posted a tip regarding the usage of SwyxWare and connected tools and devices. As the old forum is offline, this article series will be restored here again over the time. Please note that some information in this article series might not be valid anymore with current SwyxWare versions.

Dear Swyx Users
Sharing of workstations, phones, desks "seat" by more than one staff is called hot desking and it gets more and more popular.
This type of arrangement enables employers to make better use of available resources. It is very common along call centres but also well suited to companies who have staff who are frequently out of the office, for example sales people who are mostly on the road, so that space within the office does not have to be allocated for them permanently.
How does Swyx support hot desking? SwyxWare enables staff to hot-desk, meaning allows users to log-in & log-out at phones.
Once logged-off, the Phone will display:
User ?
PIN:_
The next user will enter his PIN and all the Phone Settings like Speed Dial, Line key etc. will be applied to the Phone.
Login-On & Login-Off of SwyxPhones gets even easier as you can assign a Hotkey “Log off user” to the phone.

This setting can be select in SwyxWare Administration /User properties /Button/SwyxPhone or directly via the SwyxIt! menu Settings/UserProfile/Swyxphone

Improve reachability: No matter where you’re sitting within your company, once logged-in on a Swyx Phone, your colleagues can reach you on your normal extension.
Have a good weekend and happy Swyxing...
Regards
Mirjam
