Sanchezuk Posted March 11, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 11, 2016 Hi, am having problems where a swyx phone system where DTMF tones are not working, When i run a wireshark does not see any of the DTMF tones being press. I believe something on the swyx server it not to see DTMF, I have tested thing from a swyx handset and swyxit and wireshark isn't displaying the user is press any buttom. Most Valued User jodost Posted March 11, 2016 Most Valued User #2 Share Posted March 11, 2016 is it a problem between users phones (which type of phone do they usw?) and Swyx, or between Swyx and public network? You can check this by creating an extended call routing with DTMF-actions (e.g. "receive digit", store in variable, then "play numbers" with this variable) and call it internally. If this works fine, I guess it is an issue between the Swyx-server and the trunks (as you talk about Wireshark, I think you are using SIP trunks). There are different standards to transport DTMF via SIP. Please check the trunk group settings with your SIP-provider, maybe you have chosen the wrong setting? Most Valued User Virikas Posted March 14, 2016 Most Valued User #3 Share Posted March 14, 2016 Please be aware that there might be differences on how DTMF gets transported, based on the devices which are involved in the specific communcation.. Swyx itself prefers the (non Standard!) SIP Info Method, whilst most SIP devicdes prefer transporting them via RTP as definied in RFC2833.
