From 2009 to 2011 mirjam baumberger wrote a great blog, the "Fridays' Swyx Tip". Every Friday she posted a tip regarding the usage of SwyxWare and connected tools and devices. As the old forum is offline, this article series will be restored here again over the time. Please note that some information in this article series might not be valid anymore with current SwyxWare versions.

Dear Swyx Users

Did you know that a user can be a member of more than one group?

With SwyxWare once can create us many groups as desired. Setting up groups makes it possible to contact members at a central group number. For example, one can combine all of the company's sales employees into a group called "Sales" and assigned its own extension number.

When a group is receiving a call, the telephone will ring for all members of the group. The telephone call can then be taken by any group member.

How to you create a group?

  1. Open SwyxWare Administration

  2. Click on "Groups" with the right mouse button and select "Add Group..."
The "Add new group..." Wizard will appear

  3. Group Properties: Enter a name

  4. Select Hunt group type *

  5. Define internal number
Select group members: Add the users who are to be members of this group

  6. End the set up of the group by clicking on "Finish"

* Specify how calls are to be delivered to the individual group members

Parallel

Sequential

Rotary

Random

Calls to the group number are delivered simultaneously to all members. The person who accepts the call first speaks to the caller.

Calls to the group are delivered to each group member in order, always starting with the first group member.

Calls to the group are delivered to each group member in order, always starting with the next group member, i.e. for the second call with the second member, for the third call with the third member and so on.

Calls are distributed randomly within the group, i.e. when the specified time is over, the next member is selected randomly from the entire group.

Have a good weekend and happy Swyxing...
